To round out National Mentor Month, January 25th has been declared Thank Your Mentor Day. Though the idea behind this day of thanks seems obvious, few of us take the time to reflect back upon those people who had a strong influence upon our lives. We should be thanking these people everyday, but even if you haven't, today is a great day to start!
Above all others, I want to thank my Dad. I promise this is not cliche, but this man has had the most influence on my life and continues to teach me about life to this day. Recently, I had a child; a little girl named Charlotte (Charlie) and she is the light of my life. There have been times when I have gotten frustrated, but my Dad has reminded me that I have a higher purpose now and I just need to, "Deal with it, and do the right thing." He also taught me how to fish, play baseball, drive a manual transmission, still plays from the back tees with me (though he doesn't have to), and how to respect others. Here's to you Dad!
Here's a great picture of my Dad, me, and my little brother. This one always makes me smile!
